There’s… Johnny! Cancelled — No Season 2 on Hulu

Created by Paul Reiser and David Simon, the brand new scripted comedy There’s… Johnny! was originally slated to premiere on August 24th, 2017 on the American network Seeso with eight episodes, but due to the network shutting down, this debut was cancelled – until now! Streaming giant Hulu kicked off this gem on November 16th, 2017 with seven episodes for its very first season. The show hails from Comedy Dynamics, Nuance Productions and Rough House in collaboration with Carson Estate and is executive produced by the show’s creators, as well as Brian Volk-Weiss, Michael Pelmont and Carson’s nephew Jeff Sotzing. The strong cast features Jane Levy as Joy Greenfield, Tony Danza as Freddie DeCordova and Ian Nelson as Andy.

The show is set in 1970’s Los Angeles and behind the scenes of the popular The Tonight Show with the beloved Johnny Carson at a very young age. There’s… Johnny! kicks off some 55 years after Carson’s very first television appearance on The Tonight Show, which ran successfully for almost 30 years. Unprecedented access to the full Carson archives allowed the comedy to mix live action acting with authentic footage from back in the day, when Johnny interviewed his guests on his show. This brand new comedy shows Carson as a young man and how he actually got the job in television as well as his relationship with Joy, the talent coordinator for The Tonight Show. The series will touch on all the relevant historical events at the time and showcases the importance of the show back then.
