General information and cast
On August 8th, 2017 the brand new reality documentary series The Last Shot premiered on the American network Viceland with six episodes for its very first season. The show follows the lives of Mexican and American basketball players, who want to make it big in the NBA, but for some reason they never really made it.
The Last Shot is literally about this group of young men, dreaming about becoming a professional NBA player, which is a very hard goal to achieve, because the selection process is very tough for everyone. As some of these wannabe-players have their careers derailed, they decide to travel south of the border for the one last shot at making it big in the US. In Mexico they will play cash-prize tournament with ever changing rules, where corruption and fights are part of each game and one big factor is always the involvement of the Mexican cartels. For the players it is not about winning each game, but more about the slight chance of being spotted by a professional scout.
