Since the very first release of The Lego Movie, Netflix has been right on it and picked up several different Lego productions, because the Danish brick company has shown very well that it knows how to make entertaining movies and now television series as well as awesome play sets. After series mainly aimed at boys, this brand new animation Lego Elves: Secret of Elvendale is particularly aimed at girls. As the new series only started yesterday, the overall ratings are still very premature and bound to change over the coming weeks, but the web-series currently scores 6.4 out of 10 stars and Common Sense Media rates this newcomer with 3 out of 5 stars. Netflix likes to keep their viewing figures secret, so we will have to wait for a while before we will be able to find out if the streaming giant renews Lego Elves: Secret of Elvendale for season 2 or not.
General information and cast
The brand new children’s animated LEGO series Lego Elves: Secret of Elvendale premiered on the streaming giant Netflix as a Netflix Original on September 1st, 2017 with eight 24-minute episodes for its very first season. The show is produced by Lego, animated by Studio Mir and is executive produced by Nicole Dubuc and Jill Sanford. The show was first released as a web-series in 2015 before it was picked up for television and most actors reprised their original roles for the voiceovers for this new animation.
When Emily Jones’ grandmother dies, she receives an amulet with magical powers. This piece of jewelry is able to transport her to the parallel world of Elvendale, which is a colorful and magical place full of elves and mystical creatures. Emily befriends four of the young elves that are related to the classical elements and they will help her to return back home, but with this amulet Emily is able to come back and visit her new friends for new adventures. Ashleigh Ball is the voice for Emily as well as Aira Windwhistler and Skyra, Azari Firedancer is voiced by Erin Mathews and Farran Leafshade by Kyle Rideout.
