General information and cast
The British crime drama mini-series In the Dark debuted on BBC One on July 11th, 2017 with four episodes. Season 2 was announced back in February by The show is based on the Mark Billingham novels Time Of Death and In The Dark, which was adapted for television by Danny Brocklehurst. The show hails from the production company BBC Drama Productions and is executive produced by Hilary Martin as well as Billingham and Brocklehurst. The strong cast features MyAnna Buring as DI Helen Weeks, Ben Batt as DI Paul Hopkins, Emma Fryer as Linda Bates, David Leon as DI Adam Perrin and Pearce Quigley as Trevor Hare. Ashley Walters, Matt King, Jamie Sives, Georgia Tennant and Sinead Matthews also star.
This British two-part series features two stories involving detective Helen Weeks, who has to solve a case in which her childhood best friend’s husband is accused of kidnapping two young girls, all the while she discovers that she is pregnant. The second part shows the now heavily pregnant Hellen as she deals with a tragedy on the dark side of urban Manchester.

I can’t be the only person fed up of investing my time in getting hooked on a series, for follow-up series never to be picked up, or sometimes they are cancelled once started.This is not only the BBC that does this but Netflix, Sky, Amazon Prime - they all do this. It’s very shortsighted of them in my opinion, some great series have been cancelled far too soon. It can’t be cash shortages, as some of the shows have been nominated for major awards……
