The first season of the reality TV show Storage Wars: Northern Treasures premiered on the A&E Network with six episodes on May 17th, 2017. The series is produced by A&E Television Networks and Proper Television and based on the original Storage Wars franchise with more than 10 seasons under its belt. The show is being broadcast worldwide and has had various different spinoffs for different regions and cast members.
The premise of this new version Storage Wars: Northern Treasures is the same than the original series, as a number of people, individuals or teams, descend on different storage locations, where repossessed lockers are being auctioned off to the highest bidder after just a very brief glimpse into what might be hidden in these large garage sized rooms. Sometimes, these lockers contain very valuable assets and sometimes they only contain junk. The aim is to make more money by selling these findings than what was spent in obtaining the rights to these lockers in the first place. Some of the faces are recurring from previous Storage Wars seasons.
With already ten seasons running, the original has long become a staple of the A&E network programming. The surprising fact is, that some of these participating storage locker bidders actually make a ton of money on some of their findings. So much so that some have given up their day jobs and now do this full time. This new spinoff version Storage Wars: Northern Treasures only scored 3.7 out of 10 stars on IMDb, whereas the original series still comfortably sits at 6.5 stars. As most of the spinoffs of this franchise are no longer broadcast, the future for this new series could literally go either way. As of today, A&E has yet to make an official announcement.
