On April 12th, 2017 the first season of a new drama TV series called The Warriors premiered on the Channel ABC Australia with eight episodes. The series is produced by Arenamedia and executive produced by the creators Tony Briggs and Robert Connolly as well as Jo Bell, Sally Riley, Penny Smallacombe and Jude Troy.
The Warriors is an out of shape Football Club trying to reclaim its once great fame with three untested rookies and a somewhat decrepit ex-star. All their hopes are pinned on these four people, as they are being thrown literally overnight into the world of professional sport, where the stakes are high and disappointments can cost you your entire future. The three main characters Zane, Maki and Scottie leave their homes to find their place in this new world full of temptation and a new level of pressure they have never experienced before. It will be testing to keep their integrity, old connections and finding new friends all at the same time as they face this new athletic challenge. The main cast are Gordan Churchill as Maki Birrawuy, Nelson Baker as Zane Phillips and Ben Knight as Scottie Watson. Reece Milne, John Howard, Vince Colosimo and Lisa McCune also star.
