On February 27, 2017 a brand new reality comedy series called The High Court hit our screens on the Comedy Central network with twenty episodes. Produced by Jash Network and Propagate Content and executive produced by Kevin Healey, Daniel Kellison, Mickey Meyer, Ben Silverman and also Doug Benson, who also plays the role of the presiding judge.
The concept is an absurd combination of Judge Judy and Drunk History, of some sort, where true small claims court cases are being judged by someone, who really shouldn’t be in charge – one, because this person is not a professional judge, but a comedian and secondly, this man actually gets high on weed. Nope - that is not a typo. The people going to court have agreed to dismiss their cases, just so they can be tried by Dough Benson under the influence of marijuana. Guest bailiffs also appear, such as Michael Ian Black, Lucas Bros, Joey "Coco" Diaz, Todd Glass, Tiffany Haddish, Jessimae Peluso, Rory Scovel, Beth Stelling, Geoff Tate and Reggie Watts.
If you like getting high and judging people – then this show is for you. The High Court in the very literal sense will either tickle your humor buds and you will be crying laughing watching this, or you will be appalled at this outrageous concept and simply watch it for the purpose of defending Judge Judy’s harsher methods. Whatever which way - The High Court has an overall rating of 6.1 out of 10 stars on IMDb, which doesn’t really give us any clues, whether there will be another second installment or not. We will keep you updated if and when The High Court gets renewed for Season 2.
