On the 1st of March 2015 a brand new docu-series called Finding Jesus hit our screens on CNN with six episodes. The second season premiered on the 5th of March 2017 with another set of six episodes. The historic documentary is produced by Nutopia and Paperny Entertainment and executive produced by Ben Goold, Lynne Kirby and Jane Root amongst others.

Possibly one of the oldest stories known to men, Finding Jesus tries to do exactly what the title promises. However, this show takes more of a scientific approach to the myth that is Jesus Christ, hailed as the son of god and leader of the Christian faith, as they try to find out more about the man behind this celebrity status and how real Jesus actually was. State of the art scientific techniques and archaeological research examines the true value and – most importantly – the authenticity of certain objects claimed to be physical traces of the former carpenter himself. Famous artifacts such as the Shroud of Turin, apparent parts of the true cross, relics believed to be from John the Baptist all play a part in this sometimes very emotional journey of Finding Jesus.

The documentary uses some dramatic cinematic reenactments to recreate the life of Jesus and his followers as well as his enemies and we get to see British actor Adam Bond in the role of Jesus and Anna Shaffer as Mary Magdalene as well as Steffan Boje as Pontius Pilate.

Not to spoil anybody’s expectations, but there is this very strong believe that for example the Shroud of Turin actually is the very first photography ever made by none other than the infamous Leonardo Da Vinci, who lived some 1400 years after Jesus… Regardless, Finding Jesus is a very compelling and interesting investigation into this man’s life and the fun part of this modern series is the fact, that it was created with critics and non-believers in mind. This obviously broadens the audience significantly and if you only want to watch this show for its beautiful people in it, as they depict a hunky Jesus and his followers and enemies – then that is alright also. This fascinating historic research documentary comes with a rather neutral rating of 5 out of 10 stars, which doesn’t necessarily mean anything, if the viewing figures are reasonable and satisfying for the deciders at CNN. As of today, no announcements have been made just yet, whether we will get to see a season 3 of Finding Jesus or not.

Feel the same way, and I am pretty sure there are a lot of people who feel the same. Watching the show as influenced me to return more to my church, and also makes feel the need to be of more use or assistance to my fellow men. Either way, should CNN decide to do a Season 3 or not, the "damage" has been done, they have planted the seed on my to try to be a better been to my fellow men. Thank you CCN!
