Cake Wars: Champs
Turning Lego into an edible creation is literally eye-candy and hopefully these works of art sweeten the series enough for a second mouthwatering run

On February 12th, 2017 the Food Network started with a new competition series called Cake Wars: Champs, a spinoff of the widely popular show Cupcake Wars, which has sweetened our teeth since 2009. Hosted by Jonathan Bennett, this show is produced by the aptly named Super Delicious Productions and executive produced by Chris Losnegard. The not so sweet judges are Waylynn Lucas, Richard Ruskell and Susan Brandt amongst others and fellow guest judges.

When you think of a cake being a round shaped doughy thing often covered in a lackluster layer of some icing and some uneven writing on top – think again! We are talking serious cake-baking here, where these mind blowing concoctions may top the judges themselves and with colors that would make any rainbow look pale. And these statuesque creations are all edible, oh yes! With demanding titles such as Shrek, Lego and Pokemon as the starting points for these cake designs, we get to follow the aspiring cake competitors through a number of rounds, eliminations and hard core cake baking. The winner gets to boast their insane creation and wins the $ 10,000 prize.

You had me at cake! Seeing that this widely popular franchise has been around for quite some time now, there is no denying that the demand for sweet baked goods is still very much out there. The Food Network now brought out this new version of its original Cupcake Wars called Cake Wars: Champs, which basically brings back former Cake Wars winners to compete against each other for the ultimate crown. Even though the initial overall rating of a rather average 6.1 out of 10 stars on IMDb doesn’t really look like much, the 10 out of 10 on TV.com certainly does. And given the fact that this franchise has been around for almost eight years now, we assume that this new spinoff version may get at least one more renewal. So far, HGTV has not yet made any announcements regarding the future of the show, so stay tuned and we will keep you updated on if and when we get to see Season 2 of Cake Wars: Champs.
