UPDATED September 12, 2017: It has taken Amazon long 9 months to make a decision on the future of this series that debuted online in January 2017. Having officially renewed the historical drama for a second round and naming a new showrunner (Karl Gajdusek from Stranger Things), Amazon went back on its commitment and has announced that Z: The Beginning of Everything will not be getting Season 2 and has been cancelled.

A mesmerizing period drama premiered on 27th January 2017 on Amazon, telling the incredible story of American socialite Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald. The production companies are Amazon Studios, Killer Films and Picrow and the executive producers are Dawn Prestwich (The Killing), Pamela Koffler (Still Alice), Nicole Yorkin and Christina Ricci herself, who also plays the lead role in this exciting new 20s fictionalized biography.
Z: The Beginning of Everything basically tells the story of the famous Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, a beautiful, talented and intelligent young woman from southern America, who becomes one of the first flappers of 1920s, a group of independent young women, who dressed in shorter skirts, cut their hair into bobs and generally showed their dislike for the then accepted norm. Christina Ricci plays this flamboyant young lady in this period drama and lets us follow the life and works of Zelda Fitzgerald, an icon of her time. This show literally covers it all, the celebrity status of the young and crazy in Love couple, the parties, the glitz, but also the challenges, such as adultery, mental illnesses, and alcoholism. David Hoflin stars as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Kristine Nielsen as Minnie Sayre, Cory Cott as Townsend Martin and David Strathairn as Judge Sayre.
