If anybody out there hasn't seen the award winning action drama "24" yet, then they should go and do that right now. Or they could obviously start with the prequel of the show – 24:Legacy – which premiered on February 5th, 2017, on Fox. 20th Century Fox, Coto/Katz Productions, Imagine Television and Teakwood Lane Productions are the studios behind this series and the executive producers are none other than Kiefer Sutherland himself, the star of the original show, and amongst others Howard Gordon (24, Homeland), Grace Whitehouse (Sons of Anarchy), Manny Coto (24, Dexter)and Evan Katz, who also created this show.
There is never enough time in a day – and even less, when the CTU is involved. The story behind 24:Legacy is pretty straight forward, as a US army ranger comes back to the US after leading a major military mission to eliminate a serious terrorist threat. Unfortunately, some of the problems follow him, Eric Carter (played by Corey Hawkins), back home, so he finds himself asking the CTU for help saving his own life and those of many American civilians, as the threat spreads across onto US soil. We also get so see some very famous faces such as Jimmy Smits, Gerald McRaney and Anna Diop as Eric's wife Nicole Carter. Yet another familiar 24-face is Carlos Bernard as Tony Almeida, who we get to see also.
Viewership and renewal prospects
Given the high profile production people behind 24:Legacy and the huge franchise attached, it seems somewhat surprising that this show didn't really kick it off as expected. At least channel Fox CEO Dana Walden thinks so, as she explained in an interview just recently, that she has mixed feelings about the show so far. According to her the show averages between 7-8 Million viewers per week and with an overall rating of just 6.4 out of 10 on IMDb it really does seem like more of a middle of the road kinda thing.

UPDATED October 4, 2017: The FOX network had very high hopes for the sequel of the hugely successful action drama series 24, but unfortunately they didn’t come true. After just one run of 12 episodes, 24: Legacy has been cancelled and will not be renewed for Season 2. The show opened strong, delivering nearly 18 million hopeful viewers for the premiere episode, but finished the first season with only 3.4 million viewers.
