Format and production info
A new British television music competition series, Let it Shine has premiered on January 7, 2017 on BBC One. The series is created by Gary Barlow, executive produced by Andrew Cartmell and hails from BBC Studios. Graham Norton and Mel Gledroyc present the show, with Barlow, Danni Minogue and Martin Kemp on the judge panel. There also guest judge positions, which are filled by Amber Riley (auditions), Lulu (group round) and Ricki Lake in the current freshman series.
Another attempt to build on the viewers' love for music competition programs, Let It Shine is comprised of three rounds – The Stairway (auditions), The Collaborations (group stage) and The Battle of the Bands (live shows). The show's purpose is to find young men to participate in the Band, a projected stage musical that is based on Take That songs.
