"Hoarders" is a reality television series that premiered on A&E Network in August 2009. The show follows individuals who have compulsive hoarding disorder, a mental health condition characterized by persistent difficulty discarding or parting with possessions, regardless of their actual value.
Each episode of the show features two individuals or families struggling with hoarding disorder. A team of experts, including a therapist, a cleaning specialist, and an organizer, work together to help the hoarders declutter their homes and get their lives back on track.
The show's cameras capture the hoarders' living conditions, which are often unsafe and unsanitary, and the emotional toll that hoarding takes on their relationships with loved ones. The team works with the hoarders to sort through their possessions, deciding what to keep, donate, or throw away.
"Hoarders" has been praised for raising awareness of hoarding disorder and providing a compassionate portrayal of those struggling with the condition. However, the show has also faced criticism for exploiting the hoarders' struggles and portraying them in a negative light.
The show has aired over 100 episodes and has spawned several spin-off series, including "Hoarders: Family Secrets" and "Hoarders: Overload." It has also inspired similar shows in other countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
I literally watch Hoarders anything. Even British shows. I watch them to help me declutter my own home. I think it’s a travesty to die leaving a slew of junk for your kids and grandkids to clean up. Trust me, there’s not enough time on this earth to use all the stuff we accumulate, and your kids don’t want it either. Give it to your local resale mission and bless others.
It was announced on Hoarder's Facebook page for A&E on April 17, 2023 that Hoarders is returning on A&E for a new season, May 29, at 9/8c (9pm ET, 8PM CT).
14 is filming I don't watch the show, too stressful for me the wife is a big fan. On March 5 2022, two days before filming begun 70 yr old Gail from Cameron NC passed from a heart attack. The stress was too much. Filming begun at her home she shared with her eldest daughter on schedule.
A film crew called & asked for permission to film a clip at my store (Timely Treasures Thrift Store) in Fayetteville, NC several months ago as Gail & her daughter shopped at our store. We had no idea they were "hoarders" until we were called, and found out about her passing when the film crew came in and told us about it before they had the daughter come in for filming. My wife Bev and I have been waiting for someone to tell us when it will be aired, but no word yet.
I hope A&E stepped up and is helping Ray form show 1 season 13 season. The caregiver is a predator and abusing this poor man. It is disturbing how this show left off leaving him to fend for himself!
Please I need help with my mother in Bangor Maine who is 83 years old has been passed off between hospitals and last week was sent to a homeless shelter because her house is so filthy. She has been passed around and due to her mental state she has alienated every agency in Maine because of her mental state . On Friday at 4:30pm St Joseph's Hospital in Bangor Maine sent her to hope house after they all had all gone home . They wanted her out of the Hospital and never notified me here in Texas that they were sending her . She cannot feed herself or use the bathroom. She needs diapers, meals, she is a diabetic, has severe mental illness which is why her house is deemed a biohazard . They want 14,000.00 to make her house livable and she and I do not have it. Because of her mental state and her constant abuse I had to distance myself and have only been brought back into my life again.
Love the show and all that it shows from explaining the person(s) that are being focused on to the very wonderful and gentle caring of the professionals that are there to help on so many levels. The people that come together to help clean out the hoarded houses are so very awesome in their own right, not showing any disdain or judgement on their faces or in their gait as they carry bag after buckets after boxes of disgusting items out of the homes.. BRAVO to ALL, and of course to those whose lives are being aired publicly in their embarrassment and with their own "guilt" and "disgust", my hat's off to you each and every one, what courage you show, what amazing strength you share from going through the process of mentally gathering your broken pieces within and allowing love and caring to help you learn better ways to cope and that you are worth love, caring, and a clean, healthy, and sanitary living environment. God Bless you ALL, in Jesus' name, Amen.
I have watched all these shows over & over. It makes most of us really want to avoid this trap - as not all of us do this after trauma. Millions are more aware of this problem because a of these shows. My heart goes out to them that DO get this disorder from trauma; thus, becoming pathological. The experts surely have much patience. They are terrific & do everything possible to help. Can not wait for tonight’s new 2021 episode!
Hoarders is a very interesting show and how viewers are entertained with these people who are seriously ill. I now understand the emotional process to help the people to cope and release junk. But I do blame the families and not keeping in touch. They arrive to help and nothing but horrible fighting and wasting shows time. To many commercials and replaying scenes we have already seen. Wears me out and I turn channel.
I love Hoarders, I’ve seen every episode. I love the way the experts work together to help people try to get hoarding under control. Some of these hoarders don’t seem to appreciate the help they are getting; the crew works extremely hard. I love when some of the hoarders are so thankful and appreciative and are willing to go through therapy to get treatment and a better understanding of this illness. I was wondering if there were going to be anymore seasons and I am so glad to find out that there are. I am very much looking forward to the new episodes.
SO GLAD it's been renewed! I love love love this show, and it's really helped with household decisions. No more clutter or boxes in the basement with stuff that hasn't been looked at or used in years. The local donation center has benefitted. :)
PLEASE no gross stuff, though. Bugs, dog poop and human feces are not 'hoarding.' I don't watch those episodes.
Hope it returns. It's my escapism after a long day. Perfect balance of a drama and make over show. Love when Dr. Zazio and Corey Chalmers get teamed up. Def love the show!

Put the ratings aside and do the right thing
