A curious and inventive way to recycle old news, the Investigation Discovery docuseries Barbara Walters Presents American Scandals debuted in 2015, and the second season followed a year later, on December 6, 2016. The show is produced by Lincoln Square Productions and executive produced by John R. Green and Diana Sperrazza.
Walters has earned a well-deserved reputation for her numerous high-profile interviews, but they occurred long enough ago not to feel repetitive when approached yet again. The 86-year-old Walters revisits some of her subjects, and the current updates are intertwined with old footage and other materials. The first season profiled such people as the Mark David Chapman (the murderer of John Lennon), Kato Kaelin, and the father of the murdered JonBenet Ramsay. Michael Jackson, Rudi Giuliani, Leona Helmsley, Donna Rice and Gary Hart have taken the spotlight in the second season so far, with more still to come.
