On February 14th, 2017 a new reality TV series named The Battle of the Ex-Besties premiered on the Oxygen Network with eight episodes. Produced by Fly on the Wall Entertainment and executive produced by Michael Dietz, this series only received one season and was cancelled due to network changes.
The title – The Battle of the Ex-Besties – is as self-explanatory as they come! In a nutshell, the person you once called your very best friend became your worst enemy at some point, but in this reality show they basically want you to bury the hatches and work together towards a grand prize of $100,000. Now, that shouldn’t be too hard, right?! After all, once you were super-very-best-friends-ever… Unfortunately, this idea does only sound lighthearted on paper. Once the emotions and accusations boil over, there is no easy recovery from all the betrayal and lies and finger pointing against each other. So, the question here truly is – who will hold their grudge the longest and who will sabotage their own luck by letting pride get in the way of such a juicy amount of money?! It is not surprising, that you will be watching a bunch of girl brats screaming and yelling at each other. Oh, the joy of reality TV.
It has long been known that the channel Oxygen has planned a complete overhaul this coming summer, where the network will actually turn into a crime-themed network specifically aimed at a female audience. Therefore, all shows that don’t fit this bill will have to go. Amongst others, this also applies to the just newly released series The Battle of the Ex-Besties, which got the axe after just one season. Maybe that is the reason, why there is no real hype around this particular show and no decent ratings available. This Battle was short-lived. Let’s just say, that there is no big loss here.
