Storyline and info
My Mother and Other Strangers is a new BBC One drama series hailing from Grafton House Productions. It is written and executive produced by Barry Devlin with Rebecca Eaton and Stephen Wright. It premiered on November 13, 2016.
The establishment of a US Air Force base in the midst of Northern Ireland's countryside disrupts the life of the people living in the fictional village of Moybeg. The 1943-set series portrays the life of the Coyne family and other locals after their tranquil life is changed for good. 4,000 young Yankees in hopes of getting lucky with the local ladies create a serious conflict with the men of the villages in the area. In particular, both mother and daughter of the Coyne family are smitten with the officers from the military base. Rose (Hattie Morahan) and Emma (Eileen O'Higgins) find themselves in an increasingly more adverse relationship with the patriarch of their family, Michael (Owen McDonnell).

Shame Shame why sell a unfinished series
I’ve come to it very late.
It’s bewitching and so so beautifully done.
Come on BBC Northern Ireland and especially Grafton House Productions.
This is is jewel in a dearth of average television.
It is fabulous.

BBC is my go to for intelligent storytelling. What a shame.
BBC has a responsibility to it’s viewers if they want to keep an audience.
This series left me feeling similar. Rose was so levelheaded and highly principled and I don’t think she would leave her family high and dry like this movie ended and now you never know!
I too, feel Like there should be greater responsibility shown to tie up loose ends and respectfully leave loyal, supportive viewers with closure.
When you look things up you see high ratings and a great number of people watching… Often an outraged following trying to get someone else to pick it up or finish things properly. It’s not right!
Don't do what ITV Masterpiece did with their own brilliant WWII drama Home Fires and cut it off on a cliff hanger. MMAOS is what quality British tv is supposed to be - SUPERB! They don't make them like these any more, and people are now looking to US tv to get anything of thoughtful provoking intelligence and emotion.
