About the series
Citizen Khan is a hit BBC One sitcom that's been on the air since 2012, and is currently in its fifth series which has premiered on November 4, 2016. It is created by Adil Ray, developed by Ray, Anil Gupta and Richard Pinto and executive produced by Mark Freeland. The series is an in-house BBC production with six half-hour episodes per series.
The family sitcom portrays the daily trials and tribulations of a British Muslim family from Pakistan. Patriarchal Mr. Khan (Adil Ray), his wife Razia (Shobu Kapoor) and their daughters Shazia (Maya Sondhi 2012-14, Krupa Pattani 2015-present) and Alia (Bhavna Limbachia) who live in Birmingham, are at the center of the narrative that is praised to be the most accurate and light-hearted look at the contemporary British Muslims, as well for being universally relatable, as the many positive reviews from people of nationalities and religious creed prove.
