About the series
Descendants: Wicked World is a CGI-animated fantasy and comedy series that's broadcast on Disney since 2015, with the second season released on October 21, 2016. Based on the Disney Channel original movie Descendants, is created and executive produced by Jennifer Magee-Cook and Aikiki Theofilopolous, and written by Julia Miranda and Scott Peterson. It is a short-form series, produced by Bad Angels Productions, 5678 Productions and Disney Television Animation.
The series acts as a sequel to the film, and picks up after its final events, following the coronation of Prince Ben. The villain children Mal, Jay, Evie and Carlos are still on the island trying to be good, while their parents remained evil and are wandering around the Isle of the Lost. The second season begins right after the season finale event, namely, the Neon Lights Ball. The girls throw a cozy slumber party, and begin to prepare for the next big event, the Jewel-bilee celebration.
Viewership ratings and renewal potential
The show originally premiered very strongly, with an audience of 2.31 million viewers. Descendants: Wicked World has a 7.4/10 IMDb score, and earned a Teen Choice Award nomination for Choice Animated TV Show in 2016. The show seems popular, especially with the fans of the original movie.
