Series concept and info
BBC Three's new factual documentary American High School takes the audience across the pond to a South Carolina high school in the United States. The show is directed and filmed by Marcus Plowright, executive produced by Joe Evans and Neil Crombie and hails from Swan Films. Comprised of six 45-minute episodes, series one premiered on October 18, 2016.
The unprecedented access granted to the film crew leads to a uniquely revealing documentary series about the senior year in high school, as experienced at Orangeburg-Wilkinson, a predominantly African-American school. The last year of high school is a significant time, and is a fork in the road for most people. This compelling show captures the key moments such as homecoming, graduation and senior prom, as well as the ever important small details along the way. From teenage mothers to Ivy League hopefuls, the creators of the films did an excellent job in creating a multidimensional portrayal of school life.
