Series' background and storyline
World of Winx is an Italian animated series, a spinoff of the mega-popular Winx Club series, co-produced by Rainbow S.r.I. and Netflix. It is a mix of comedy, mystery and detective genres, and is created and directed by Iginio Straffi. Two 13-episode seasons were initially commissioned, with the first installment debuting on Netflix on November 4, 2016. The second season premiered on June 16th, 2017.
The familiar Winx characters team up with new ones to go on an undercover search for children with special talents in various fields, from science and sports to music and arts. Their mission is complicated by a dangerous secret, a mystery that has to be resolved before the talent thief kidnaps their prodigies. The series targets 8-12 year olds, and the action takes place in an urban setting on Earth, not the Magic Dimension.
