About the show
There’s never enough of beautifully built and elaborately decorated houses on our television screens, and now there is another new reality real estate series launched on Lifestyle HOME network in Australia. I Own Australia’s Best Home is produced by FremantleMedia for Foxtel and premiered on September 28, 2016.
The show is presented by three experts in their fields – interior designers Tim Leveson and Gillian Khaw with architect Nick Tobias. Each of the first installment’s ten episodes features three beautiful homes, but in a manner very different from the sticky beak mode of similar shows. First of all, the crew stays in each of the houses overnight as guests, and another point being that the weekly audience has an opportunity to vote on the weekly winner. The results of online voting will ultimately lead to a prize being awarded at the end of the series - $30,000 will be donated to the charity of the winner’s choice.
Reception and chances of renewal
The show is branded as a must-see for anyone building their dream home, yet the obscene amounts of money required to build something remotely similar to the featured homes make it more of a dream lifestyle program. The Lifestyle HOME network has not announced whether there will be a second series of I Own Australia’s Best Home, but the producers are likely to wait until the installment is over, and review the overall ratings before making a decision.
