Popular French series – storyline and cast
Braquo is a hit French criminal drama television series that became available on Hulu in September 2013 and began streaming its fourth season on September 12, 2016. Created by Oliver Marchial and produced by Capa Drama with Canal+, Marathon Group, Be-Films and RTBF, the show originally premiered in France in 2009. Hervé Chabalier and Claude Chelli are the producers.
The ensemble cast of four Parisian police officers is at the core of the Braquo's storyline. Eddie Caplan (Jean-Hugues Anglade), Walter Morlighem (Joseph Malerba), Theo Wachevski (Nicolas Duvauchelle) and Roxane Delgado (Karole Rocher) suffer a huge shock in the wake of their colleague's suicide, and go to great lengths, including circumvention of the law, in order to clear up their friend's reputation. They cross the line, falling under the scrutiny of the Internal Affairs department, and Roland Vogel (Geoffroy Thiebalt) in particular.
Reviews and possible renewal
The thriller series has garnered excellent reviews in both France and the US, earning an 8.1/10 IMDb score and a highly coveted 2012 International Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series. It is a gritty, brooding drama, and both critics and viewers are praising this exciting and down-to-earth story for being multi-dimensional, sophisticated and gloomy. The future of the controversial crime drama Braquo has not been decided yet, so we will keep monitoring network announcements for renewal or cancelation news.
