Series host and premise
Vancouver native legendary pro skater Rick McCrank invites the viewers to take an unusual trip around America on Abandoned, Viceland’s new reality series that aired on September 2, 2016. The show’s freshman installment contains ten one-hour episodes. As practically all of Viceland originals, the show is an in-house production.
An exploration of abandoned spaces in very different areas across the US, the stories behind them, the sad beauty of ghost towns and disintegrating buildings are a monument to the ruthless flow of time and inevitable cycles of creation and destruction. The premiere episode focused on the North East of Ohio, and the city of Cleveland in particular, which was once a booming area with many manufacturing businesses, and had lost almost a half of its population in the last 70 years.

This show hits on so many levels, great host with fresh skateboarding - on anything you can find which has a real uniqueness. 10/10
Just like great shows in their first season being cancelled (Firefly), the cast ages - skateboarding isn't for older bodies, so, someone please pick this up for season 2 before Rick gets too old!!
I would have added this to my must sees each week. It was so interesting, fun, informational and done really well.
Hauntingly beautiful, I feel I have been on a journey after every episode. I admire the spirit of the Skaters who make use of the wasteland and Rick the presenter is very authentic to the project.
Mesmerizing and thought provoking, 'Abandoned' takes you on a visually rich journey, even the intro music stirs my emotions. Televison at it's best!!!! Well done Viceland!
It had a very arty feel to the way it was shot but without distracting from the subject. The presenter had a very good sense of humour and seemed to get better with each episode.
Really hope they do more.

This show deserves 100 seasons.
