Storyline and basic info
On September 1, 2016 ABC AU launched the second series of Australian political and hacker thriller The Code. The series is created and written by Shelley Birse, executive produced by Carole Sklan, David Oglivy and Greer Simpkin and produced by Playmaker Media for ABC. It originally premiered in 2014, and the second series debuted with six new one-hour episodes after a two-year hiatus.
Several storylines intertwine in the plot: one features Ned and Jessie Banks, brothers who leak a video filmed at the site of a suspicious outback auto accident and immediately threatened, and their friend Hani Parande. Another portrays teacher Alex Wisham and police officer Tim Simons delving into the case of Clarence Boyd, the accused teenager. The operations of Ned’s journalism office are at the center of the third plot line, and the fourth one focuses on the highest echelons of power in the Australian government, corruption and cover ups. The beginning of the second series finds the Banks brothers in the wake of deportation to the US due to potential security breaches.
