Have you ever heard of a staycation? It resembles a vacation, but requires you to stay at home and enjoy yourself by all means at hand , without leaving the premises. For some people it is the best way to spend their down time, while others require a flight before they can begin unwinding in a new setting.
On August 20, 2016 FYI launched a new reality competition program, Ultimate Staycation series that features a pair of newlyweds, Kate and Andrew, who have to spend 30 days without leaving home in order to win and qualify for a $20,000 prize towards their down payment on their first house. It does not seem complicated at first, but during their stay the couple is continuously presented with challenges from FYI talent from a variety of shows, such as Man vs. Child: Chef Showdown, Married at First Sight, He Shed, She Shed, Tiny House Nation, and others. Among the challenges are a pair of unruly canines that are staying with the couple for the weekend (remember, they can not step out of the house) and an office space renovation that has to be completed according to Zach Griffin’s unique design.
Current season and possible renewal
The program is presented and sponsored by Pergo, a hardwood and laminate flooring manufacturer. The episodes are available online and are broadcast on the FYI network. Will Kate and Andrew master all the challenges, manage to maintain their lifestyle staying in, avoid personal conflicts and win the coveted down payment on their future dream home? We hope they do, and then have an opportunity to apply their new skills and knowledge acquired in Ultimate Staycation to their new house. Who’s up next for the challenge?
