With already six seasons of Ross Kemp: Extreme World under its belt and very strong overall ratings like the whopping 8.4 out of 10 stars on IMDb and a strong 7.2 out of 10 stars on TV.com one would assume that the show will definitely return for many more seasons. Unfortunately, this time it’s not even down to the super successful television show that it won’t be renewed for another season. This decision has more to do with the fact that the British network Sky 1 wants to change its factual programming to more entertaining shows with more drama and comedy instead. Apparently, Ross Kemp is already in talks with Sky 1 for upcoming projects, so the end of this particular show might not be the last we see of him. This is at least something the fans can hold on to when they finally have to say goodbye to the very last final of the sixth series of Ross Kemp: Extreme World.
Documentary series premise and production info
In 2011 actor and investigative journalist Ross Kemp introduced the British documentary series Ross Kemp: Extreme World. Its sixth series premiered on Sky1 on July 9th, 2017 with six brand new episodes. Kemp, Clive Tullon and Celia Taylor serve as executive producers, and Tiger Aspect Productions and Mongoose Productions produce the socially significant docu-series. Unfortunately it was announced that the show won’t be renewed for a seventh series.
The series depicts Kemp and his crew as they explore different hardships that people have to face in the most remote corners of the world. Homelessness, poverty, hunger, drug addiction, violence are among the problems portrayed on the show. The filmmakers dive right in and explore the effects these dramatic and long-standing issues have on the locals and communicate with the local authorities in order to find out what measures are taken to do away with the problem. The current season takes the team to Texas, West Bank, Manila, Naples, Madagascar and Lybia.
