Production info, storyline and cast
Hank Zipzer is a CBBC children's comedy television series, airing on CBBC in the United Kingdom since 2014. The current third series has premiered on iPlayer on May 19, 2016, one week prior to the show's broadcast premiere on May 26, 2016. It is based on Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver's book series Hank Zipzer: The World's Greatest Underachiever. The series hails from Kindle Entertainment, DHX Media and Walker/Cable Productions, and is executive produced by Anne Brogan, Hugo Heppell, Helen McAleer, Sue Nott, Julia Posen, Melanie Stokes, Steven DeNure and Shayna Fine. Each of the series contains 13 episodes.
The series centers on the life and troubles of a 12-year-old dyslexic boy Hank Zipzer (Nick James), and his schoolmates – friends Frankie (Jayden Jean Paul-Denis) and Ashley (Alicia Lai), and enemy Nick (Jude Foley). The storyline is based on Henry Winkler's own childhood experiences that were tainted with dyslexia, and he himself has a role in the series playing Mr. Rock, Hank's favorite teacher who supports him in the most difficult situations.
