Series info, plot and cast
Sensitive Skin is a Canadian black comedy series, whose concept is adapted from an eponymous British series. The series premiere took place on HBO Canada in 2014, and the second season began airing on May 15, 2016. The entire second season was made available to subscribers in its entirety on different platforms, such as TMN and GO, Sensitive Skin is created by Hugo Black, written by Bob Martin and produced by Rhombus Media, Baby Cow Productions, The Movie Network and Movie Central. Series' creators Hugo Black and Bob Martin, stars Kim Cattrall and Don McKellar (who's the director as well) along with Henry Normal serve as executive producers.
The series centers on a married couple – Davina (Kin Cattrall) and Al (Don McKellar) who sell their house and attempt to change their lives around as they face a mid-life crisis. The cast also includes Elliott Gould, Nicholas Wright, Colm Feore, Joanna Gleason and Mary Walsh. The second season also brought Tom McCanus, Brigitte Robinson, Rick Robinson and well-known Brazilian actor Felipe Camargo into the story.
Awards, viewership and renewal prospects
The first season of Sensitive Skin has won four Canadian Screen Awards and was nominated for an International Emmy for Best Comedy Series, the first Canadian series to earn such a nomination. Critics and viewers have responded very warmly to the series, praising the sensitive and underscored performance by Cattrall in particular. The series boasts a score of 7.6/10 on IMDb, and its recent second season premiere was watched by over 1 million viewers, second in Canada only to Game of Thrones.
