About the series
The Carmichael Show is an American sitcom television series airing on NBC since August 26, 2015. The second season premiered on March 9, 2016 with The Voice as a lead in, and then settled into a Sunday night time slot on March 13. Season 3 then followed on May 31st, 2017 and on June 30th, 2017 NBC officially announced that this would also be the last and final season of the series. The Carmichael Show is created by Jerrod Carmichael, Ari Katcher, Willie Hunter and Nicholas Stoller, written by Carmichael and executive produced by Carmichael, Stoller, Ravi Nandan and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel.
The series is the result of a collaborative effort from Morningside Entertainment, A24 Films, Stoller Global Solutions, Lunch Bag Snail Productions, Universal Television and 20th Century Fox Television. The show is filmed in front of a live audience and portrays a fictionalized version of Jerrod Carmichael, his life as a stand-up comedian and his family.
Overall ratings and no season 4
At first glance it is somewhat surprising to hear that The Carmichael Show was actually cancelled during its third season and won’t return for chapter number 4. After all, the viewing figures remained solid and steady and the overall ratings definitely indicate a huge popularity of the series, with a strong 7.4 out of 10 stars on IMDb and 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, so one would assume that an upcoming installment is as good as in the bag. But that is not the case, as the renewal talks between the network and producing team felt sluggish from the start and simply didn’t get off the ground. On June 30th, 2017 the show creator himself announced the end of The Carmichael Show and that it would end with the final episode of season 3.
