General and production info
The US television game show Idiotest has been airing on GSN (Game Show Network) since 2014. The show is hosted by Ben Gleib, executive produced by Adam and Jamie Rosenblatt, Christian Homer, Ryan Devlin, Shawn Greenson, Larry Barron, Ryan Curtis and Mark Cronin and produced by Little Wooden Boat Productions, Inc. The fourth season of Idiotest premiered on January 19th, 2017.
Brain teaser questions and visual puzzles are the first challenge for the two teams, which are made up of two contestants each. Judging by the results, one of the teams receives a prize of $10,000. For obvious reasons, some of the questions are rather tricky and purposely misleading, and as the show goes on, the more difficult the challenges will become. For the hardcore fans of Idiotest there is an online game that can be played on GSN's website, with 32 levels of question difficulty for the users to go through.
Mixed reviews and chances for a fifth season
So far, Idiotest has to blow us all away. Unfortunately, that simply hasn’t happened yet and with a fourth season, well – it should have. There are plenty of reviews out there, which explain as to why this show simply doesn’t have the X-Factor when it comes to raking in Millions of viewers. And that – by no means – has anything to do with the difficulty or the complexity of the questions. If anything, it has been said, that the way these challenges are presented, would make pretty much anybody look like an idiot. Even those with an extremely high IQ. Another reason, why this series doesn’t seem to kick it off, seems to be the somewhat unfunny host, who struggles to keep the viewers entertained during these competitions.
With a score of 6.2 out of 10 on IMDb and less and less viewers, it is highly likely that this show won’t be renewed for another season. However, GSN has yet to make a statement about the future of Idiotest. That could go either way, so stay tuned and we will keep you up to date, whether there will be a season 5 for Idiotest or not.
