What is the Latest Update on “Outlander” Season 8?
While “Outlander” Season 8 has been confirmed, don’t expect it to be coming any time soon - Sam Heughan, the director, announced that filming would begin in Spring 2024. Once filming is complete, production then has to account for the intensive CGI the show requires. Between filming and production, the earliest and best case scenario would be a year, so “Outlander” Season 8 would likely release sometime in 2025.
The good news is that the second part of Season 7 has yet to debut as of this writing (premiere date: ~~) and the prequel series to “Outlander, “Blood of My Blood,” has yet to begin production. There will be plenty of content while waiting for “Outlander” Season 8 to wrap production. “Blood of my Blood” is estimated to premiere in 2025 or 2026, and “Outlander” Season 7B does not yet have a premiere date. Season 7B will consist of 8 episodes.
"Outlander" is a Scottish TV series based on Diana Gabaldon's book series, following the story of Claire Randall, a 1940s nurse mysteriously transported back to 1743 Scotland. Caught in the Jacobite risings, Claire faces a romantic dilemma between her 18th-century husband, Jamie Fraser, and her original spouse from the 20th century, Frank Randall. ”Outlander” airs on Starz, which can be accessed for free by Sling TV and The Roku Channel. “Outlander” can be streamed on-demand on Starz’s streaming service and Netflix.

What to expect from “Outlander” Season 8 and Updates on the Cast
”Outlander” Season 7B still has yet to premiere, so there is plenty of time for characters to be written out of the show or even time for new characters to be written in. Confirmed to return are Sam Heughan, Richard Rankin, Caitriona Balfe and John Bell reprising the roles of Jamie Fraser, Roger Mackenzie, Claire Fraser and Ian Murray respectively.
Balfe has an active Instagram with more than 2 million followers. Sam Heughan has more than 4 million followers on his Instagram. Richard Rankin has just under 380,000 followers, and John Hunter Bell has just over 250,000. All four of the actors can be expected for “Outlander Season 8,” and have minor parts listed in other Canadian-produced television shows.

In a press release, Starz announced that it is developing "a series that will expand on its groundbreaking show Spartacus." Original series creator Steven S. DeKnight (Marvel's Daredevil) will serve as showrunner and executive producer of the revival. According to Starz, the new Spartacus show "will explore uncharted territory and new journeys of the original series' iconic characters."
