Series' background and info

Janet King is an Australian legal and political television drama series airing on ABC1 since February 27, 2014. It is a spinoff from the 2011 Crownies drama, and follows Senior Crown Prosecutor Janet King (Martha Dusseldorp) and other characters featured in the original series, as well as a number of new characters. Janet King is presently in its third season, which premiered on May 25th, 2017 on ABC AU with eight brand new episodes. The series is executive produced by Greg Haddrick, Des Monaghan, David Oglivy and Carole Sklan and produced by Screentime.

This season sees the return of Senior Prosecutor Janet King from maternity leave right into a high-profile murder case. As she undertakes the investigation, a shocking conspiracy is revealed and the whole judicial system may feel the consequences.

Subscribed to Acorn during Covid and found Crownies, which was really enjoyable. Then I found Janet King and loved seeing many of the cast from Crownies back again. What a huge disappointment when I realized Janet King was not being renewed for a fourth season! Sometimes it takes time for a series from down under to reach Canadian viewers, and this particular series is so superior to anything being offered this side of the Pacific pond by US networks, so I really hope a fourth season will be considered. At least think about doing a two hour movie type conclusion to wrap things up - please!!!!!!?

I love Janet Hill and the Acorn TV show but no more 3 series end. I hate these short series and I will not watch these shows any longer you pull us in and then leave us wondering what just happened it makes the show seem poor as written and if it could afford to make the show. Sorry deliverance hate last show ending on Season 3

I live in London and I have seen Janet King and Bianca I have to say I absolutely LOVE IT find the love between J & B very classy and comes across very real and most of all sophisticated Please bring them back together.

Yes I perhaps agreed with the comments, yes normally
series never ends good, in a way is good as there may be
an other season, which I will be very delighted to see them all together , particularly Bianca and Janet together again
Hopefully next season we will see Janet looking for Bianca
as after all Janet neglected very badly Bianca and hopefully
Bianca will understand Janet's behaviour as I can see Janet
Has suffered badly since little , which all this will affect people's attitude and personality. Yes please bring them back together , they make a good couple. THanks

I'm from the US but never watch crime/police procedural dramas. I discovered JK on AcornTV and am hooked on the actors' performances and the complex story lines which are not dumbed down like their American counterparts here on network TV. There are still good stories left to tell in this series and I truly hope they are told. Eight episodes fit this season but I hope, if the series continues, the next season(s) will be longer.

Australian tv is SUPERIOR to American and JANET KING is SUPERIOR to any show I've watched in the US for the past ??? years! To take this off the air because it's "riding high" is nuts and a load of bs. Always begs the question, if the lead on this show were by played a straight male instead of a strong, gay woman, wouldn't you have renewed for 3 future seasons already? This show is successful, shown all over the place, people are nuts for Marta Dusseldorp and her alter ego, JANET KING, and you're hesitating. Surely you're better than what we endure in the USA! Renew JANET KING!!!!

I agree. Season 3 disappointed only 8 episodes
I waited all that time for just 8 episodes and mot happy Janet and Bianca breaking up. Season 3 boh disappointment.
Cancelling my subscriptionto Acorn TV untill the producers make up their mind about more episodes or season 4.

NETFLIX should take it since they're showing other Australian shows.

Not happy that Bianca dumped Janet, but it had to happen. Janet is almost perfect except for the emotional hole in her soul - she's like her dad. She needs to grovel and grow and get Bianca back as her life will be incomplete until she drops the wall her father helped her build. Or maybe Bianca has to be sacrificed - dunno - hope not - but Janet has work to do beginning with Emotions and Priorities 101. Her work is her wall so she can prevent hurt like her father caused her.

And I'd like to add, what is with the highly paid television executives invoking the over used phrase, "It's better to go out while we'really still on top." No it isn't. It makes no sense at all. Pardon my American [censored]ogy, but would Michael Jordan have left basketball when he was playing at his peak? Of course not. He'd have dug in and played harder. It should be the same way with these TV shows. Why would it make sense to end them when they are still at their peak. Millions of us in many, many countries are watching them and supporting their advertisers. That's when "We should go out while we're on top?" Sounds like a load of balogna to me.

Would love to see a 4th season of Janet King here in America. Still hoping too, that Dr Blake will be renewed. These are two of the best shows on tv. Don't understand ABC. Why would they let these brilliant and popular shows go under? And can't some other station pick them up? So frustrating when there is so much garbage being broadcast, and these shows are smart and entertaining.

This is the BEST series; hope the lesbians survive (I'm 71 years old and have yet to see any movie, etc with a HAPPY ENDING; the movie CAROL almost made it)....---Adele (not the singer)

This is the BEST series! But yes, I agree with Kirsten (in the above message) PLEEEZE, NO 'DEAD LESBIAN' stuff. No fatal accidents, illnesses; I'm 71 years old and I've seen this over and over again; the lesbian gets crushed by a tree, or poisoned, etc etc. Before I leave this world, I would really love to see a (do I have the courage to say it?): HAPPY ENDING TO A LESBIAN STORY. (The movie CAROL almost did, but was 'iffy').....

This show is so 'meaty' that's the only word I can come up with! It's such a wonderfully written and acted series. Of course we all love the actors and especially Marta! I can't wait to watch her on A Place to Call Home another WONDERFUL SERIES. SHES a jewel as an actress and we in the USA would love to have her. How can these Australian shows so out shine ours? Actors like this entire cast and crew of both these series! Can't wait for each to began in 2016 ( A Place) and 2017.... Janet King.

Watching "Crownies" the dynamic exchange of Janet and her boss, her colleagues is just very refreshing. "Janet King" introduce us more of this character.
