Series info and storyline
The Canadian teen drama series Backstage originally debuted in the United States on Disney Channel since March 25th, 2016 and in Canada on Family Channel since March 18th, 2016 with thirty 24-minute episodes. Backstage was also picked up by streaming giant Netflix, but only the first season is available thus far. The second season of Backstage premiered on July 28th, 2017 with brand new episodes. Created by Jennifer Pertsch and Lara Azzopardi, the show hails from the production company Fresh TV.
The series portrays outstandingly talented students at a prestigious performance arts high school as they hone their skills in their respective fields and deal with issues related to competition among themselves, tough-minded teachers, stardom perspectives and general teenage issues of growing up and coming of age. The cast includes Devyn Nekoda, Alyssa Trask, Josh Bogart, Aviva Mongillo, Matthew Isen, Julia Tomasone, Adrianna Di Lielo and others. The series explores many important issues that all teenagers have to deal with.
