Show concept and info
Ellen Page, an actress who recently came out of the closet and became a fierce advocate of LGBTQ rights, and her best friend Ian Daniel go around the globe exploring LGBTQ cultures on Viceland's brand new docuseries Gaycation. The series, executive produced by Page herself, premiered in 2016 with 4 episodes. Each episode was devoted entirely to the exploration of a single country. The pair travels to Brazil, Japan, Jamaica and around the US. The second season debuted on September 7, 2016. The season premiere was preceded by a special episode on August 24, 2016 that focused on the massacre at Pulse in Orlando, FL.
Season 2 contains four episodes that take the audience to India, Ukraine, France and the Deep South of the United States. The journey is a personal one for the duo, as they explore LGBTQ identities around the world, the widely varying treatment that sexual minorities receive from society and the striving for equality, and, in some cases – for survival. The circumstances are, naturally, very different in the four locales portrayed in Gaycation, with awkwardness being the least upsetting of the encountered situations. Traditions clash with modernity, and the stigmatized social groups have to endure a lot of pressure.

I love your network so much and I think a lot of your shows are great. I feel like Gaycation is the show that all of us gays have been needing for a long time. It's great to get a sense of how safe a place really is to travel if you are gay because theres literally no other show like it. Plus it's Ellen Page showing us these places and who doesn't love a lesbian elf?
Please let this show have many many more seasons.
Keep up the great work!
