About the show
A Canadian-British drone-flying competition television series launched on CBBC on February 20, 2016, Airmageddon involves young contestants and targets a young audience. The series is created by Steve Carsey (Robot Wars, The Match, Techno Games), executive produced by Hugh Lawton and produced by Conceive Media. It is also broadcast in Canada on Family CHRGD in the spring of 2016. Series 2 of Airmageddon premiered on CBBC on August 14, 2016.
Will Best and Rachel Stringer present the series where kids demonstrate their mastery of complex flying machines. The show promises much in the way of imaginative use of cutting-edge technology to create a compelling spectacle, with precision flying challenges, skilled air battles and other striking sightings in the Airena – a setting that was built especially for the high-tech show. In reality, as The Guardian's Stuart Heritage notes, it is very repetitive and does not require any particularly amazing skills.
