The long-awaited moment has arrived for fans in the United States as Happy Valley Season 3 is finally set to premiere on May 22. After enduring the agony of knowing that our British counterparts enjoyed it months earlier, viewers can now catch the six-episode series simultaneously on Acorn TV, AMC+, and BBC America, with new episodes releasing weekly.

Taking place seven years after the events of Season 2, we find Sergeant Catherine Cawood (Sarah Lancashire) tirelessly working on the police force. The discovery of a body leads her down a path that brings her face-to-face once again with Tommy Lee Royce (James Norton), the incarcerated father of her grandson, Ryan (Rhys Connah). Adding to the complexity, Tommy is due for release soon, while 16-year-old Ryan stubbornly holds onto his loyalty to his father, a man whom Catherine refuses to acknowledge as a member of her family. Siobhan Finneran also returns, reprising her role as Catherine's sister, Clare.

The hit drama starring returns for its third and final series starring Sarah Lancashire as Sergeant Catherine Cawood.

A teaser of the upcoming series reveals: “When Catherine discovers the remains of a gangland murder victim in a drained reservoir, it sparks a chain of events that unwittingly leads her straight back to Tommy Lee Royce.

The first two series were gripping, gritty and nothing short of brilliance: the third series wrecked the lot. Most crucially, psychopaths do not suddenly develop empathy or feelings of resolve towards someone or something they loathe, Tommy Lee Royce's character was completely betrayed in the final showdown- if it was true to him, Catherine would have died no ifs no buts. Such a shame, perhaps the writers would have benefited from learning the traits of a psychopath and maybe consulted the very clued up professor David Wilson. Rubbish end, you can now join game of thrones in competition for most disappointing finale.

HANUKKAH HAS COME EARLY FOR ME! This is fantastic news. This is one of my favorite shows. Like many, I am American, but I have always loved foreign and British TV and films before streaming and internet existed. I devour as much of these type films and shows I can find via different streaming services.

Happy Valley is a gem among so many fantastic shows from across the pond. I was losing hope that it would return. I am thrilled, but also saddened that it will be the final season.

Oh I hope how soon we can see Happy Valley series 3. Anyone have any idea when it will come to Britbox. My husband and I enjoy British TV so much.

I applaud BBC and how it gets things right, especially featuring British actresses who are not boring cookie cutter Barbie dolls, which are the stereotype American actresses are so often forced into by limited roles. Happy Valley is outstanding, not only because of how excellent Catherine and Claire are, but because all of the supporting actors feel like real people in a real place. Can't wait for more.

What a GREAT show. Watching it from the US-US shows can't compare. So nice to watch a show with quality, not like in the US with all the FILTH-Swearing every other word, using the Lords name in vain constantly and grabbing your crotch all the time. Great acting, quality writing, can't wait for more. Thank You again.

Agree 100%. We've started watching European series because of more content, better scripts that don't go for the shock factor with cursing every other breath. Quite frankly that gets boring. Happy Valley offers some of the best acting I've seen in a long time.

please production please I NEED ASAP SEASON 3 & 4 I'll be satisfied to see season 3 please before 2018...This is by far the best show on Netflix..I'm so into it that I watched it twice PEOPLE.. this is how good the series is and god knows I have been watching other show BUT never entirely... :lol: :lol: AMAZING !!!

I found happy valley on netflix season2 around 3 wks.ago. I enjoyed season 1 so much that it made me happy to find season2. I wish they would pjt season 3 and 4 together. :lol:

:P I found Happy Valley on Netflix a few weeks ago and was quickly "hooked on it!" The actors are incredibly talented. I love the way Sarah Lancashire plays her part as a tough, but extremely compassionate police sergeant. She is very "real," instead of always withholding her feelings as is usually portrayed in typical "detective or cop" shows here in the U.S. Being an American, I have a little trouble always understanding their dialogue and it can be hard to keep up with the subtitles (which I use) because they are speaking fairly quickly. I can't wait for Season 3! May the Lord bless each and every actor as well as the writers, producers and all involved in making this incredible series.

I found this show on Netflix and quickly got "hooked." It's not always easy for me to understand every word or even keep up with the subtitles because the actors speak so fast and I am an American. I still loved the show and watched it every chance I got and finished Season 1 & 2 pretty quickly. Each episode ended with me "on the edge of my seat" and wanting more. The actors are very talented and Sara Lancashire plays her part as tough, but so compassionate and caring. I like the way she cries over some of the people she must arrest and over some of her problems. She is very real! I am looking forward to Season 3.

Accidentally stumbled across this incredible show on Netflix a month ago. Ended up watching seasons 1 and 2 over the next several weeks, simply couldn't stop. Terrific writing plus great acting equals a fantastic show. BBC is really putting out some quality stuff and Happy Valley is at the top of my list. Can't wait for season 3 and I'm so disappointed to hear it may not be until 2018.

I just finished Season 2 of this great series. Such good acting...can't look a the vicar on Grandchester the same anymore. LOL.. These British shows are giving US some great competition AND with no more Downton it gives me the accent fix I need. Too bad we have to wait soooooo long for more of HV.

:sad: I am so incredibly sad to see it end, because I have become so vested in Catherine's life, it's seriously unreal. I am a mental health therapist intern, and seeing Catherine go through what she goes through on this series is just heart wrenching to watch, but it's a dynamic that so many people experience, that it just truly brings to light what many cannot speak of, but what many have to live through. The scripts are extremely so well written and the actors so superb, that it is just amazing to experience. I will be waiting for Season 3 on baited breath. I hope that I do not have to wait too long!

What a great show, with real people to whom we can relate in a way or another! I absolutely love Sargeant Cawood, she has become my hero! I can't wait for the next season! I sort of feel empty now that I won't be able to spend my evenings in this Happy Valley!
