Show info and cast

Another fishing-themed reality series on National Geographic, Big Fish Texas moves our attention from the Bering Sea into the warmer, but still unpredictable Gulf of Mexico around Galveston, Texas, where commercial fishing business is also a very lucrative one. The series portrays the fishing empire built around Katie's Seafood Market and owned by ex-Marine and commercial fisherman Buddy Guindon. Katie's Seafood Empire processes a quarter of the commercially caught fish in the Gulf of Mexico. Buddy's family consists of his wife Katie, his father Greg, his brother Kenny and his four sons – Nick, Ricky, Hans and Christopher. All of them take on various responsibilities to sustain their family business.

The series' premiere took place on February 3, 2016. Big Fish Texas hails form Asylum Entertainment and Fatcake Productions and is executive produced by Steven Michaels, Jonathan Koch, Ryan Lauckner, Misty Tosh, Lisa Colangelo and Robert Palumbo.

Ratings and renewal prospects

Big Fish Texas premiered to 0.561 million viewers and a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic. By the fourth episode the series slid to 0.367 million viewers and a 0.1 rating. The series holds an 8.6/10 rating on IMDb, which, however, is not particularly telling, as it's based on only 17 ratings from the viewers. At this point in the season it's difficult to predict the series' future, so please stay tuned for more information and we will update you on either a renewal or a cancelation when it's announced.

There is no such thing as an "ex-marine". Being a Marine myself, it really chaps my ass seeing ex- marine or hearing ex marine. Once a Marine, always a Marine!

I can really relate to the show I once hade grouper Snapper boat out ft Myers beech Florida back in the 70s it's a tough rewarding life love seafood specially grouper sandwich work before sport fishing you guys only way to fresh American seafood they are polluting more seafood with chemical waste than you are catching we better get fresh seafood while the getting is still able to eat keeping cranking them up long live the commercial fisherman

Watched the first season and enjoyed it until they went to Austin Texas to speak of limiting "sport fishermen " an opportunity for a larger bag limit. Sport fishermen should be given a larger limit! There is enough fish for all, but it seems like the almighty dollar for a select few is more important. The boating and fishing industry will grow if sport fishermen are able to FISH and learn how to fish better and maybe break into commercial fishing or at least justify the purchase of a new boat for the same type of fishing for sport and money. Here in Florida we have a great fishery for all, but are restricted to a SMALL limit due to commercial fishing LOBBYISTS! L

I Loved this show, really had a down home feel, was interesting to see the struggle of the local commercial fisherman and what we should be doing as a community and a country to support them and our beautiful oceanic waters and fisheries. Please don't let this one go!!!

Absolutely love this show. My husband keeps flipping through the channels to see if it's back on and it never is! This is an awesome working, family spending, money making kind of family. And it's better than any other garbage on national geographic!

Please do NOT bring this show back - it's a slap in the face to every American recreational fisherman, and besides that, it STINKS.

It's weak and over produced. Hank is too much of a jerk-off, little baby to keep interest in the show. Much better shows on fishing to watch.

This is a good show it shows a hard working family trying to make t against all these large corporations that could care less about what it takes to make it in this world. It would be a mistake to all if you don't continue this show. I doubt it will be back because some guy or lady in a office that doesn't understand the need of the show all they do is look at numbers and say yes or no please don't STOP this show.
