Dark Net is a new American documentary television series that first debuted on January 21, 2016 on Showtime and the second season premiered on April 6th, 2017 with 8 new episodes. The series is produced by Vocaltv and Part2 Productions, created by Matt Kochavi and narrated by Lauren Terp. Danna Rabin, Vivian Schiller and David Shadrack Smith act as executive producers.
The Dark Net, otherwise known as the dark web, was originally intended for members of the intelligence community, where they could privately meet, but online predators and criminals are outsmarting the system exploiting it more and more. The show explores cutting edge contemporary issues related to this dark net, such as bio-hacking, digital warfare, online cult organization, pornography, sex trade, cyber-kidnapping etc. An attempt to analyze the impact of the dark side of technology on all aspects of life in the modern world is a very important and a very timely one, as changes are occurring at lightning speed all around us, and one can barely keep track of a very small and hidden part of them.
