I am obsessed with British TV, and this in my top 3 along with Broadchurch and Line of Duty. I don’t know what I would do without Acorn and Brit Box. Keep ‘em coming.

Do you also enjoy Vera? I just finished Ann Cleeves latest Vera title and enjoyed it ever so much. This series has been on the local KCET station in the LA area but usually on at 10pm which is past my bedtime. I do hope they can purchase the Shetland series since I have enjoyed all of them also. By the way, Shetland is on Netflix not sure of how many series they have.

Shetland, Vera and a number of other great British shows are also on Britbox and they're already showing Dark Heart!

Kentucky here! Just finished S3, and very happy S4 is coming. American TV sucks, Endeavor, Insp Lewis, Foyles Law, all brilliant shows. Keep it up BBC! This is possibly the best written show ever, and not 1 car blew up, no naked deranged token American scenes, just good writing and magnificent scenery.

I agree with your comment about American TV sucks, I’ve been watching British shows for over 20 years, what hooked me was Midsomer Murders when it ran on A&E

Kentucky here too. Thanks so much for the recommendation of Endeavor. Just finishing it up and we have loved it. Hopefully season 6 will be where we can see it soon. And also season 5 of Shetland. 👍🏻

Love this series from the BBC! The setting is so stunning; the plots are well-developed; and, the characters are memorable! We are very pleased to hear the 4th season is now being filmed. So refreshing to witness law enforcement officers who are committed to doing good. As low-key as these characters are, they pack a huge punch of integrity!

That is exactly how the UK police behave...They are STRICTLY controlled in the way they behave towards ANY OFFENDERS, So are the prosecutors and Judges!!! There is an unwritten rule for long-term prisoners > if any new young offenders kill a cop...They need to watch their backs in prison... There is also NO BAD BEHAVIOUR allowed from police towards black offenders either...

This series gets top ratings in all categories. Not one actor rang false. Some of the best acting, writing and staging I have EVER seen. Don't want to lose ANY of the cast: Jimmy, Tosh, Jimmy's dad who's character seemed to indicate he was not "well", Sandy, and Billy. Stunning. I have been telling all my American friends (non of which voted for you know who) about this show. Absolutely cannot wait for the next season and many more to come.

Became a fan of Henshall in the Sci-fi "Primeval" series. He is so believeable and multifaceted as the DI. Also, binge watched on Netflix and now will have to wait patiently. 5-star plots, scenery and music. A very decent substitute is "Hinterland" as well as "The Fall". Also, I discovered Ripper Street recently and it is a gem! I love many American programs (Bluebloods is worth the watch) but like many other posters, find a richness (and a little sentimentality due to my English and Scots ancestry) in the BBC productions that is sometimes missing on this side of the pond.

Have you watched Vera which is a series by the same author, Ann Cleeves. I just finished her latest novel, The Seagull which is excellent. Out local KCET in LA will be showing The Grand Hotel starting tonight which looks good. Another excellent show was The Tunnel.

Arizona, USA here - Just finished Netflix binge watching and excited to learn that there will be a series 4. It is so refreshing to watch television shows from the United Kingdom as they are intelligently scripted, show beautiful landscape and architecture, and, the acting is superb. Thank you!

This East Texan is very much in love with this series! I do hope many more seasons are a foot.... Love their accents, the scenery is so beautiful and found it interesting that they have many days without darkness..much like Alaska does. I also love the music. Cannot wait for the next season. I watched all three in less than 3 days! ❤

Wonderful program! Magnificent scenery and photography, well acted, and complicated plots. Don't want Tosh to leave. Douglas Henshall perfect in his role. Want many more seasons. Watched on my computer, and subtitles were very helpful because of the accents.

Like Edna Taylor-Stark, I wanted to know more about the characters, and recently read the new paperback, Cold Earth. This prompted me to start the story at the first one, Raven Black, and I'm enjoying working my way through and learning the history of the characters. Looking forward to the new series even more!

Love Shetland! So glad there will be a new season... hope Tosh will be on it. Wish they would put it on Acorn so I could work out the accent on reruns. Hard for an Okie!

You can use close captioning and that will help with the accent.

Confused about the ending of Series 3 ... maybe my local PBS station shortened the episode. Why did Leanne/Lena contact Calvin S. anonymously by e-mail so that he could have Michael Thompson/MacGuire killed? How did she know Calvin would be interested? How did she know his e-mail address?

Subtitles would help my husband a great deal.

My great-grandmother never lost her Aberdeen brogue, so I can figure it out. However, we need to rewind 3-4 times with some of the softly spoken and slang parts.

my TV system (Direct TV) has a "cc" [censored]on you push when the program begins and gives you the dialogue. Huge help!

On my iPad for any program I can choose to view the dialogue as I listen. It’s a great feature and easy enough to turn on and off with a light touch of your finger.

Karen, my grandmother was from Glasgow and had an accent similar to Jimmy Perez in the Shetland series. I love to hear Doug Henshall speaking in his soft “ Weegie” voice. ❤

Love it's depth. Best I've seen since "Breaking Bad." Please keep on. It' s opacity and difficulty in translating to American are great charms. 'Have to watch them all at least twice. Best thing you've done in years. They are WONDERFUL!!!
