The Award winning television series Orphan Black scores a very strong overall rating of 8.4 out of 10 stars on IMDb, 4 out of 5 stars on Vulture and a solid 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and on average, the show drew in half a Million viewers per episode, so it came as quite a shock when it was announced over a year ago, on the night of the season 4 finale no less, that Season 5 of Orphan Black would also be the last and final installment for this popular show.
Summary and storyline
Orphan Black is an award winning original science fiction and drama series that revolves around a woman who assumes the identity of her clones. Co-created by John Fawcett and Graeme Manson, the series initially premiered in March 2013 on the Space channel in Canada and on the BBC channel in the U.S. After four successful seasons, Orphan Black season 5 returned to BBC America on June 10th, 2017 with the last and final ten episodes. It was announced on the night of the season 4 finale that the show would not return after this fifth installment.
Tatiana Maslany stars as Sarah Manning, a con artist who, after witnessing the suicide of a woman who appears to be her doppelganger, takes on her identity and occupation as a police detective. What follows is a thrilling drama with unexpected twists and turns. Sarah discovers that she is a clone, and has numerous other clones throughout North America and Europe who are the targets of a convoluted murder plot. Orphan Black is filmed on location in Toronto, Ontario, which is apparent from the license plates of the cars featured in the series.

The new series, set to premiere in 2023, will follow new characters in the same world as the BBC America cult favorite.
AMC Networks has greenlit a new series, Orphan Black: Echoes, that’s set in the same fictional world as the BBC America cult favorite that ran from 2013-17. The series, set to debut in 2023 on AMC+ and the company’s linear networks, comes from writer and showrunner Anna Fishko (Pieces of Her) and Boat Rocker, whose Temple Street Productions produced the original series.
