Shock Trauma: Edge of Life is a documentary series following the professional medical staff at the world-famous R Adam Cowley Shock Trauma Center on the Baltimore campus of University of Maryland. The series is produced by the Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Susan Hannah Hadary, who is currently the director of MedSchool Maryland Productions, and John Anglim. Shock Trauma premiered on January 1, 2016 on Discovery Life.

The trauma center that is considered the best in the country opens its doors to the production crew of Shock Trauma: Edge of Life. Experienced trauma surgeons, nurses, residents, University of Maryland faculty physicians and a vast array of other highly professional specialists perform amazing life-saving manipulations. The unscripted docudrama follows the unpredictable dramatic events unfolding at the Shock Trauma Center, where only the most critically injured patients from all over the state of Maryland are transported.

Current season and possible renewal

The series demonstrates Shock Trauma team's dedication to their work and their excellent level of professional skills. It is inspiring to see how invested the staff members are in the success of the treatment, and gripping to follow the race against time as they fight for the patients' lives. Besides, it's a real documentary series, as by the nature of the material it can barely be scripted or contrived. Hopefully, this showcase of technological advancement, humanistic approach and skillful professionals will stay on and continue its realistic portrayal of Shock Trauma.
