Filthy Riches is an American reality television series that follows several men across the U.S. as they hunt for some of nature’s hardest-to-find products for commercial use. From eels to bloodworms and ginseng roots, the stars of this show will go to any lengths to find and extract what others want but can’t get easily. Filthy Riches Season 2 premiered May 6, 2015 on National Geographic.
Filthy Riches is a series in which several people have opted out of the “9 to 5” and decided to dedicate their lives to working in deep rivers, overgrown backwoods and soggy mud flats. They catch eel, cook it in self-made smokehouses, hunt for ginseng or burl and sell it to organic stores, or dig up bloodworms to sell them to fishermen. Why would anyone need such things? Well, the stranger it sounds, the more valuable it is, usually. And these men know the value of every piece that they find, catch, or dig up. Their skills go back several generations and require patience, perseverance and very hard work. And they definitely cannot be accused of not working hard enough.
