Series concept and information
Rocket Jump:The Show is an original documentary series airing on Hulu since December 2, 2015 and set to consist of eight episodes. It is produced by RocketJump and Collective Digital Studio in association with Lionsgate Television.
Rocket Jump is a documentary series, but with a format so unusual, it's difficult to pin it down with a term. It is a mix of sketch comedy and documentary film. The show follows the YouTube star Freddie Wong and his production team of the YouTube action-comedy series Video Game High School as they create their famous shorts for the web. The short film is then shown in the episode finale.
Ratings and possible renewal
Video Game High School has gathered an amazing audience of over 110 million views in its three seasons on YouTube with 7.7 million subscribers, so the fan base is huge for Rocket Jump: The Show, the behind-the-scenes look at the making of their favorite series. Both Hulu and RocketJump exist at the crossroads of technology and entertainment, that's why there is a perfect understanding and mutual support between them. Freddie Wong is a proponent of universal access to his content, which is why Hulu gets only one week exclusivity for the short films created in each episode, whereas the documentary episodes remain exclusive to Hulu in full. Hulu and RocketJump are extremely confident of the series' success. Will there be more of this curious and informative look at the creative process? There's no word from the series creators or the Hulu network, so the fans need to stay tuned.
