Storyline and plot
Developed by Brian Robbins and Jeff Hodsden, Richie Rich is an American sitcom that is based on Harvey Comics’ comic book of the same name. Starring Jake Brennan, this is one of Netflix original series that was first released in February 2015 to mixed reviews. Richie Rich Season 2 was released on Netflix on May 22, 2015, with all episodes being available on that date.
Although the target audience of this show is children, it could be fun to watch for the entire family. Here, a young boy came up with a way to harness clean energy from vegetables and became a billionaire overnight. Now Richie Rich lives in a mansion filled with anything a kid’s heart might desire, spends a lot of time with his friends Murray and Darcy, and plays with his robot. Richie lives with his sister, who’s jealous of his success, and his dad.
Ratings, reviews and possible renewal
Although the comic book was a success, the series has received a lot of negative reviews, saying that it portrays children as spoiled and materialistic. Scoring 4.2 out of 10 on IMDb and 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, the series has been described as ‘creepy’ and ‘not worth watching’ by many critics. Nevertheless, this does not mean that Netflix will decide not to go forward with it. Although there’s no official statement on the fate of the series from the producers, we might get a chance to see Richie Rich Season 3 some time in the future.
