Raising Whitley is a US reality television series that's been broadcast on OWN since April 20, 2013. It is produced by Pilgrim Studios, executive produced by Craig Piligian, Melodie Calvert and Kym Whitley and has been expanded from a half-hour format to one hour after a successful first season.
The star of the series, Kym Whitley, is an actress and a comedienne who had to make a life-changing choice to adopt a baby in a matter of an hour. Kym was a mentor to a disturbed young woman for 15 years, but the latter disappeared mysteriously after giving birth to a baby boy, leaving Kym's information as the only contact. Kym made a decision to adopt the boy, named him Joshua and is raising him with the help of a group of her friends, “The Village”, as she calls them. It is a fun, but challenging setup, but Kym undertakes the feats she's faced with a cheerful attitude.
