UPDATED April 30, 2018: We now know the end date for Netflix’s sci-fi series Sense8. The Internet network revealed today that the series created by Lana and Lilly Wachowski and J. Michael Straczynski will wrap June 8.

UPDATED October 4, 2017: As many of you already probably know, Netflix has made a shocking and unexpected decision not to renew Sense8 for Season 3 and cancelled the internationally popular show after two seasons. Sensates, as loyal fans of Sense8 call themselves went above and beyond to save their favorite show, but their petition failed to change the network’s decision. In the video published on the show’s official Faceboook page, writer and creator Lana Wachowski explains the decision to wrap up the story and gives an insight into one special finale episode that will be released some time in 2018.
Storyline and plot
Created by J. Michael Stranczynski and Andy (now Lilly) and Lana Wachowski, Sense8 is an American sci-fi drama television series that follows eight strangers around the world who find out that they can connect to each other’s thoughts. The series is one of Netflix originals and became available for streaming on June 5, 2015. The sophomore installment of the web series was released on May 5, 2017.
In this series, the creators explore territory that reminds the viewer of The Matrix. Here, eight people live regular lives before they discover that they have special abilities and feel the unstoppable urge to find out what’s going on. One day, the eight of them have a vision of the death of a woman who is a complete stranger to everyone. While they pursue the answers to their questions, they find out that they can sense each other’s feelings and use each other’s knowledge and skills. At the same time, a mysterious organization is trying to hunt them down and destroy them.
Sophomore chapter and expected renewal
A highly-anticipated Season 2 of Sense8 was made available on Netflix on Friday, May 5, 2017 in its entirety – all 10 episodes. The sophomore installment was preceded by a Christmas Special episode that was titled "Happy F*cking New Year" and was released on December 23, 2016 worldwide. This intense thriller is the Wachowskis first attempt at writing for television and it is definitely a successful one. Receiving critical acclaim, the series holds an average score of 8.4 out of 10 on IMDb. The compelling show has a huge fan following around the globe, solid social media coverage and has been nominated for a number of awards, including 2016 Primetime Emmy Award. The sophomore installment boasts glowing reviews, with viewers calling the show intriguing, smart, inspiring and addictive. The attention to detail and the ability to keep the audience glued to their seat is simply unparalleled.
