Summary and plot
Beauty & the Beast is an American police procedural drama television series that focuses on a strange partnership between the NYPD Detective Catherine Chandler and social outcast Dr. Vincent Keller. Starring Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan, the fourth and final season of Beauty & the Beast premiered on The CW on June 2, 2016.
Nine years earlier, Catherine Chandler was saved from an assault by Dr. Vincent Keller, who is believed to have been killed in Afghanistan. Today, she is investigating that assault and her mother’s murder and finds clues that lead her back to the man who is thought to be a beast, but whom she considers her savior. Meeting him, Catherine begins to discover that Keller has a rage condition that turns him into a beast, which does not stop her from developing feelings for him. As they battle attraction that can tear both of them apart, they work together on solving crimes. In season 3, the two begin living together as a couple and attempt to keep others away from their strange, but fruitful partnership.
Current season and renewal expectations
This series is a romantic love story with a supernatural police procedural twist. Although it was generally met with negative reviews, the network has decided to renew Beauty & the Beast for season 4, which is currently broadcast and is set to be the last of the series. The series is currently averaging 0.8 million viewers per episode and a 0.2 demo rating. Will Keller and Catherine be able to sustain their relationship, or will he have to be isolated in order to keep her safe? Season 4 recap
The fourth and final 13-episode season of The CW’s Beauty and the Beast has wrapped up on September 14, 2016, attracting 0.7 million viewers and earning a demo rating of 0.2 and a share of 1. While the viewership fluctuated during the current season, the rating and the audience share remained the same. The farewell episode, appropriately titled Au Revoir, was action-packed, but sentimental as well, delivering a satisfying and well-rounded mix of emotion and action. Vincent and Cat have managed to fake their deaths, and while their friends and loved ones thought they were gone in the car explosion that originally targeted the crown prince, they are revealed to have survived. The final scenes saw their reunion with Tess, J.T. and Heather in a Parisian cafe interrupted by the couple dashing out the door to stop a street robbery. Their further whereabouts are destined to remain a mystery to the viewers, since Beauty and the Beast has been canceled after the fourth season.
