Cinemax’s The Knick Renewed for Season 3

The Knick is a highly acclaimed period medical drama that debuted on Cinemax on August 8, 2014. Created and written by Jack Amiel and Michael Begler, directed by Oscar-winning Steven Soderbergh and produced by Anonymous Content, it has received many awards, including Best Drama Series at the Golden Globe and was nominated for several more.
The dark, graphic, intriguing series is set in the New York City Knickerbocker hospital in the early XX century. Dr. John W. “Thack” Thackery, is the chief surgeon, a highly talented doctor and a drug addict, a complex character who holds everyone's respect, brilliantly portrayed by Clive Owen. Another one of the main characters, Dr. Algernon Edwards (Andre Holland) is a black surgeon who continuously struggles to prove his professional worthiness to the patients and many of the doctors at the Knick. The hospital staff - doctors, managers, nurses, social workers – struggles to keep the hospital open without sacrificing high-quality care and continue the relevant scientific research. There's also a heavy dose of intra-hospital intrigue, embezzlement, illegal abortions and other dark secrets. Excellent production quality, a star cast, beautiful cinematography, attention to period detail all add up to a not-to-be-missed show.
Throughout its two seasons the series enjoyed extremely positive critics' reviews and viewer ratings, thus it would be logical to assume that The Knick will return for a third season. However, in spite of the show's success there hasn't yet been any official word from Cinemax on its renewal, so many fans are eagerly waiting for information.
