The Beautiful Lie Won’t Return for Season 2, ABC (AU) Decided

The Beautiful Lie is an Australian romantic drama TV series that is a contemporary version based on the classic novel Anna Karenina by Russian author Leo Tolstoy. Produced by Endemic and Southern Star Entertainment, the first season of the show premiered on Australia’s ABC AU, on October 18, 2015.

Based on one of the most infamous female characters in literary history, The Beautiful Lie chronicles the live of Anna Ivin (Sarah Snook) who is seemingly happily married until a fateful meeting at the airport with a stranger named Skeet Du Pont (Benedict Samuel) changes everything. The six part series reimagines Anna Karenina in modern day, is directly by Glendyn Ivin and Peter Salmon, and stars Sophie Lowe, Celia Pacquola and Daniel Henshal, among others.

The series opened to mixed reviews with some calling it stale and cliche. Others have highlighted that the show is not the a great reinterpretation of Anna Kernina and that it leaves the viewers questioning whether Anna’s decision to cheat on her husband was more immature rather than tragic. With relatively low ratings — coming in at just under 0.5 million per episode, changes are that ABC AU will no green light The Beautiful Lie Season 2. The network has not made any formal announcement regarding the fate of the show. Fans will need to stay tuned for more info.

Why did you guys temped us with such a real series then cut it off you have not made enough publicity... its now 2022 and I just finish binge watching it never heard from this series great great acting amazing cast easy to follow and the story so very touching please someone take this series and do a 2 seasons at least.

Omg I ageee. This is one of the best series I have watched in a long time. Its true is. Usually movies/programs, alot of times don't do the book justice. But this one did. Anna was talking right through about her thoughts and feelings which makes it have that mystery about it. you can get in her head and really sympathize with her character. Even if they do one more series, with a funeral and how everyone felt about her taking her life. What happens to her children. Does everyone regret how they out casted her and never forgave. Et forgave many other things. How does skeet feel about her stopping at their first date spot. So many questions. I watched it all in one night. Like a really good book I couldn't put down. I couldn't stop watching.
Bring on season 2.
Even its only a few episodes!!!!

I loved the beautiful lie wos sad ending wos sad she wos pushed away from hur boy . I wish the did another one to find it what happens I watch it over n over it like a real life story I love the couple with the 3 kids they funny as. Please be another one

I love the serie because its an inspirational movie which gives a clu on whatever decision we make in life and it comes along with consequences and also I learnt of thinking and anlayising before conclusion I love Anna'family with Alexander the understood each other

Love the show and wanting more series collection but unfortunately it's been axed just like other programs get axed be4 the complete set season is finished and no1 get to actually enjoy something they start watching and getting into why on earth do people start a series collection in the first place when they dont bloody complete the set series to begin with disappointing that they have money to put other shows on and ads on TV but cant simply afford to keep the existing programmed series running what a absolutely joke

I loved the series because of Sarah. The main, and only problem of the series was; Anna Karenina's story simply can not be modernized! It's out of date! Who, in his/hers right mind, in today's world would commit suicide for the reasons Anna did?!? No one! The world has changed _a lot_ since the 1800's!

The most compelling TV drama I've ever seen. A terrific cast, especially Sarah Snook's Anna, portraying her seduction and resultant tragic suicide, abandoned by her family and admirers. My only doubt: her seducer, Skeet, seemed an unlikely attractor for a beautiful classy happily-married wife and mother; a character more like Tolstoy's Count Vronsky would have made "The Beautiful Lie" more credible.
