Storyline and general info
Impastor is an American sitcom starring Michael Rosenbaum and created and written by Christopher Vane (Wings). The series follows the life of a hard-core gambler turned gay pastor in a small town of Ladner. The first season of the series premiered on TV Land on July 15, 2015, and the current second season followed on September 28, 2016.
Buddy Dobbs is a no-good gambler, slacker and now a fugitive. Forced to think of suicide by a massive gambling debt, Buddy meets a reverend who talks him out of jumping off a bridge, only to see that reverend slip and fall down himself. After the initial shock wears out, Buddy realizes the golden opportunity he’s been presented with – he can pretend to be dead, steal the reverend’s identity and hide out for as long as he needs to. His new life as a gay pastor turns out better than this gambling addict might have imagined, as there are always teenagers numerous ‘fan-base’ of good Lutherans who respect and listen to him.
Declining ratings and renewal prospects
Impastor is an outrageous comedy with an excellent cast, which could, however, use some improvement in the storyline structure and dialogue quality. Although it may seem that it’s a ‘sit-back-relax-and-think-of-nothing’ type of a show, it actually makes the viewer contemplate issues like identity, integrity and religion. Season one attracted an average of 456,000 viewer per episode, and earned a 0.11 demo rating. The premiere episode of season two did not provide any pleasant surprises, sliding to 320,000 and 0.08 in the 18-49 demo. The future of the show has not yet been decided upon by TV Land, so stay tuned, and we will inform you whether or not to expect a third season of Impastor.
Latest news
UPDATED December 14, 2016: Deadbeat fugitive Buddy Dobbs is at the end of the road – he no longer needs to pretend to be either gay or a pastor, since TV Land decided to cancel Impastor after just two seasons on the air due to declining viewership. Last week's season finale, which now serves as the series finale as well, ended on an exciting cliffhanger that would have easily propelled the next season forward, yet now the fans are left wondering what would have happened to Alexa after she's killed her husband, and to Buddy in the aftermath of what Alexa has revealed to him. Farewell, Impastor, it was fun.

Maybe if they'd add it to Netflix or hulu more people would know about it! Or if TV Land actually advertised it even half as much as they do 'Younger'
